How to say “I'm just joking” in Khmer
គ្រាន់តែលេងសើច
Kroan tae leng saech
💡 គ្រាន់តែ (kroan tae) is the 'just / only / merely' limiting expression that downplays what precedes or follows it — 'it's only...', 'I just...'. Here it softens លេងសើច (joking) into 'I'm only kidding'. គ្រាន់តែ is invaluable for minimizing or being modest: គ្រាន់តែសួរ (just asking), គ្រាន់តែមើល (just looking) — handy for politely browsing in a shop.
